Award Ceremonies
Suggestions
- Ask your local bishop to confer medals and patches to all recipients at a diocesan ceremony. Announce the date well in advance of the ceremony.
- Ask the bishop to stay after the ceremony for a reception and/or picture taking.
- Present the medals and patches in the context of a eucharistic liturgy or prayer service.
- Send out a press release prior to and after the awards ceremony.
- Ask your diocesan newspaper or radio station to cover the event. There can never be enough positive news about young people.
- In remarks by the bishop or Scout chaplain, be sure the focus includes youth and adult recipients alike.
